According to Federal law, it is illegal for certain people to use, own, possess or even have access to a firearm or ammunition. These include:

Individuals convicted of felony crimes;
Those who possess illegal weapons, such as sawed-off shotguns, sawed-off rifles and automatic weapons;
A person convicted of domestic violence;
Illegal aliens; and
Individuals subject to contested restraining orders.

Additionally, those who illegally buy and/or sell firearms may be violating federal law.

If you know someone who fits one of these descriptions and is in possession of a gun or is involved in illegal activities, report it.

If you aren’t sure if a situation is illegal, call to ask. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
