Portland Man Convicted of Third Federal Firearms Offense Sentenced to Serve Federal Prison Time

Felon Found with Stolen Handgun Following a Police Chase

Portland, Ore. Ð Shawn T. Crane, 29, of Portland, Oregon, was sentenced today before U.S. District Judge James A. Redden to 70 months in prison and three years of supervised release following his plea of guilty to the charge of felon in possession of a firearm.

Following a short police chase with Portland Police Bureau officers on November 7, 2007, a stolen, loaded .40 caliber handgun was recovered from the vehicle Crane was operating. Crane has been in custody since that date and is also pending sentencing in Multnomah County Circuit Court for delivery of a controlled substance. This is CraneÕs third federal firearms offense. He was previously convicted of being an unlawful drug user in possession of a firearm in 1999 and felon in possession of a firearm in 2005.

The case was investigated by the Portland Police Bureau and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Leah K. Bolstad and Fred N. Weinhouse.
