11/5/2007 Portland Resident Sentenced to Serve 116 Months in Federal Prison Portland, Ore. - Joseph Anthony Rodriguez, age 29, resident of Portland, was sentenced today by U. S. District Court Judge Garr M. King to 116 months in prison after pleading guilty to felon in possession of a firearm on August 29, 2007.
Rodriguez was arrested by Portland Police Bureau in July of 2006 on a local warrant. He fled from the officers and was eventually captured following a chase.
After his arrest, search warrants were obtained for a motel room and a storage unit associated with Rodriguez, which the investigators felt would contain contraband. A quantity of methamphetamine, two firearms and two bulletproof vests were recovered from the search. Rodriguez had prior felony convictions from Washington County for manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of precursor materials with intent to manufacture.
